Jersey Deviled - A Round Robin Part 1 by Vickie Moseley J. Edgar Hoover Building Oct. 12, 1993 "Mulder, after we go see this ethnobiologist, will you consider taking the afternoon off?" Scully asked as she eyed her partner. He still looked tired and it was obvious that he was favoring his right side, where the slash marks from the beast woman's claws were still healing. "And do what, Scully? Play hokey? I have work to do." "We could take a drive up to Jersey, see if we could find the beast woman's cave," Scully suggested. She had no intention of actually looking through the woods, since it was only about 3 hours till sunset. But a nice drive up the coast, Mulder could relax, maybe even sleep in the car. Then she could coax him into a decent meal and drive them back. Not her idea of the perfect afternoon, but a far sight better than watching this man drive himself into the ground. "You'd do that? You'd go with me to hunt for the cave?" Mulder queried, his eyes narrowing in his disbelief. "A day ago you didn't believe she existed, now you want to hunt for her cave?" Scully licked her lips. "Mulder, I'm just saying that if she did give birth, it's possible that child is still out there, without protection, in the woods. At the very least we should look around. We should probably call in New Jersey Social Services." Mulder rolled his eyes. "Oh, yeah, I'm sure some MSW would just love to join us in the deep woods hunting for a naked kid with no social skills." He stared at her for a full minute before he turned and unlocked the car door for her. "OK, Scully. You're on. After the stop at the Smithsonian, we go hunting for the Beast Kid." "I just said we could look, I didn't say we'd find," Scully muttered under her breath. It was going to be a long afternoon.
