Affirmation

When madness spirals deeply in my soul
And burdens me with things best left untold
When horrors overtake and bear me down
And I am left alone to hold my ground

When angels turn to demons in my sight
And evil steals the beauty and the light
When all around, behind me, and before,
Are ruined lives and lies and grief and more

When ashes are what's left of hopes and dreams
And waking nightmares claim me with their screams
When future fights exhaust me ere they start
And life itself weighs heavy on my heart

Then through the dark she calmly comes to me
And takes my hand and urges me to see
With strength and goodness she affirms my quest
And helps me live and love and brings me rest.
